Doing good successfully and sustainably
Together with volunteers, many small donors and large supporters, the WaterFoundation has launched a number of projects since its foundation in 2000, supplied over 100,000 people with drinking water and thus enabled many families to live a life of dignity and personal responsibility.
Where do we work?
After successfully implementing numerous projects in various countries around the world, the WaterFoundation has been focusing its activities on Ethiopia and Eritrea since 2004. (Due to the political situation in Eritrea, no new projects can be implemented at the moment.) Since 2000, Bolivia, Peru and Tanzania have been added as new focus countries. The world’s largest CloudFisher fog collector has been in operation in Morocco since 2018.
What do we do?
Well construction and spring tapping
Wells and spring developments are a simple and cost-effective way to quickly provide easily accessible clean drinking water.
Restoration of water infrastructure
It is not always necessary to invest in new facilities. Many defective water pumps or wells can be easily repaired and integrated into a sustainably functioning maintenance system.
CloudFisher fog collector
Our CloudFisher units provide clean drinking water in suitable regions without the use of energy.
Protection and promotion of ecosystems
Reforestation and the establishment of nature and water protection areas serve to maintain or restore the sustainable provision of drinking water and the supply of the population.
Sanitation
Clean toilets and hand washing facilities ensure hygiene and prevent infections and illnesses.
Knowledge transfer
Training in hygiene practices and the proper use of water, a precious resource, helps the projects to achieve sustainable success.
Donkeys as water carriers
We provide donkeys for the women and girls to do the strenuous water transport.
