Water for Tigray: Reconstruction after the war

The WaterFoundation's largest project to date launched in November

The war that raged in northern Ethiopia from 2020 to 2022 has massively exacerbated the difficult living conditions of the population in Tigray: around 3.5 million people had no access to clean drinking water at times.

In the new and largest project in its 25-year history, the Waterfoundation, together with its cooperation partner well:fair foundation, will work until 2027 to restore 600 destroyed water points in 50 affected communities, establish and train WASH committees, and provide broad-based hygiene training.

Together with local authorities and our local partner, the Relief Society of Tigray (REST), we are securing a sustainable water supply and strengthening community-based structures – so that around 200,000 people can once again have hope for health and peace.
