Federal Order of Merit for Foundation Board Member Wolfgang Günthert

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Günthert was awarded the Federal Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the Federal President. Wolfgang Günthert has supported the work of the WaterFoundation since its inception as a member of the Foundation Board.

He received the Order of Merit for his life’s work and his tireless commitment to the sustainable management of water resources and addressing the consequences of climate change. It is the highest honor awarded by the Federal Republic of Germany for outstanding service to the common good.

The Order was presented to Wolfgang Günthert by Minister of State Thorsten Glauber during a ceremony on April 14, 2026, at the State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection.
