Debre Birhan

Initial situation
In the region around the county town Debre Birhan, about 140 km northeast of Addis Ababa, many families live in impassable rocky terrain, partly in deep gorges and far away from water holes, which can only be reached by donkey trails.

Realisation
Numerous water projects have now been successfully completed in this area. As a result, the Water Foundation received requests to build new spring catchments in Shola for about 80 families and in Gofa-Debr for about 70 families.

Several trips by our partner to the responsible water authority, the craftsmen, and their local helpers were necessary to start and accompany the projects. The materials procured from afar were transported to the construction sites on foot and by donkeys over small paths without any technical means.

Implementation

The implementation took place in mid-2017.
