A few weeks before his sudden death on February 19, 2000, Friedensreich Hundertwasser patronized the WaterFoundation.  The WaterFoundation was a special concern for the 1928 Viennese born distinguished artist, who committed himself throughout his life to ecology and environmental protection. In memory and honour of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, we established the “Hundertwasser Prize”.

It awards individuals, initiatives and also companies, who have made an important contribution to the sustainable use of existing water resources or the sustainable supply of water for people in disadvantaged regions. The prize is 5,000 Euro.
